Despite a relatively small field of entries, Saturday's Pairs champs provided some excellent quality bowling from all concerned - despite being the hottest day of the season so far. A gentle breeze did its best to cope with a cloudless sky but struggled in its efforts to do so.
The eventual winners of the Ladies Pairs, Pam Bostock and Eileen Ponting fought out a tough decider with Nola Glenn and Jean Everett to win on the last end. Well played Ladies!
The Men's competition field played a Round Robin that decided the two finalists. Again it was tense with Rick Markovina and Martin Hoani having come from well behind to be all square with the last end to play to eventually take the title from Morris Pita and Richard Ponting.
Stunning lead bowling from all four finalists was the key to both the close results in the finals, with the deciding shots from remarkable play by the winning skips. It would have made great TV!
A great day all round.
