On a beautiful day made for Bowling last Saturday, the Men's Pairs competition was keenly fought out on the lush sward that is the BHBC Green. Duels of classic proportions between young and more experienced players marked the day with many nerves (among other things) being frayed in the process. Fortunately, despite the strong competition, no lives were lost and there was little blood to be seen on the green. Due to the very warm conditions in the latter part of the afternoon, the day was drawn to a close after Section Play and the Semi Finals. All players except four then withdrew for refreshments and to to commiserate over some amber liquid with others as to why they were not in the Final. The four exceptions were Roy Parker & Morris Pita together with Ian Little and Ricky Markovina, who will compete in the Final in a few week's time. Great bowling Gentlemen, we look forward to the final.
It should also be noted that four of our Junior Players Gareth Towler & Jason Blackmore together with Randy Skelton and David Hilson gave the Senior players a wonderful challenge for the semifinal places and are to be congratulated on their fine showing. Gentlemen, it was a close thing!!!!
Following a great performance from our Junior Ladies last week in the Club competition, we are even more confident that the future playing standards of the Club are in good hands.
